Nistednukom tingħaqdu magħna sabiex infakkru l-mewt ta’ Jean Paul Sofia u nitolbu ġustizzja mal-vittmi kollha tal-industrija tal-kostruzzjoni f’pajjiżna.
Dan se nkunu qed nagħmluh nhar is-Sibt 4 ta’ Frar fil-11 a.m., xahrejn wara li Jean Paul Sofia nstab mirdum taħt it-tifrik ta’ bini mġarraf f’Kordin. Bħal Jean Paul Sofia, Miriam Pace inqatlet tliet snin ilu mill-industrija tal-kostruzzjoni, u ta’ kull ġimgħa nisimgħu b’inċidenti gravi u mwiet ta’ ħaddiema f’siti madwar Malta u Għawdex.
It-tbatija u l-imwiet li qed iġġib magħha l-industrija tal-kostruzzjoni mhumiex sempliċiment inċidenti iżda r-riżultat ta’ industrija nieqsa minn regolamentazzjoni serja. Minkejja l-ħafna wegħdi ta’ riformi, saru biss tibdiliet kożmetiċi, u r-regħba baqgħet issaltan fis-settur tal-ippjanar u l-kostruzzjoni.
Għalhekk ser niltaqgħu quddiem il-Ministeru għax-Xogħlijiet Pubbliċi u l-Ippjanar, il-Furjana, (hawnhekk: https://goo.gl/maps/wqGsmJeeVF2xbZpC9) sabiex intennu l-għajta tagħna favur regolamentazzjoni serja tas-settur. Ma jistax ikun hemm ġustizzja għal Jean Paul Sofia u għall-vittmi kollha tal-kostruzzjoni sakemm il-qligħ tal-iżviluppaturi jibqa’ jiġi qabel is-saħħa u l-ħajja tal-ħaddiema u tar-residenti.

JEAN PAUL SOFIA – JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
We invite you to join us in remembering the death of Jean Paul Sofia and to demand justice for all the victims of the construction industry in our country.
We will be doing this on Saturday 4th February at 11.00 a.m., two months after Jean Paul Sofia was found buried under the debris of a collapsed building in Corradino. Like Jean Paul Sofia, Miriam Pace was killed three years ago by the construction industry, and every week we hear of serious accidents and deaths of workers on construction sites across Malta and Gozo.
The suffering and the deaths that are caused by the construction industry are not simply incidents but the result of an industry which lacks any serious regulation. Despite the many promises of reform, the changes that were made were only cosmetic, as greed continues to dominate the sector of planning and construction.
Therefore we are going to meet in front of the Ministry for Public Works and Planning, in Floriana, (location: https://goo.gl/maps/wqGsmJeeVF2xbZpC9) in order to reiterate our call for serious regulation of the sector. There cannot be justice for Jean Paul Sofia and all the other victims of construction as long as the profits of developers continue to be given predominance over the health and lives of workers and residents.
