Join us for another Film Night at the Moviment Graffitti Premises on Saturday 26th February. Doors open at 6pm, while the film starts at 6.30pm.
We will be screening the film ‘Persepolis’ (2007), based on the beautifully animated biographical graphic novel of Marjane Satrapi who recounts her life in pre and post-revolutionary Iran and then in Europe.
The film traces Satrapi’s growth from a child to a rebellious, punk-loving teenager in Iran. In the background are the growing tensions of the political climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal-leaning family detained and then executed, and the background of the disastrous Iran/Iraq war.
Various themes surface throughout the film, including feminism, war, autonomy and repression, by means of which a fruitful discussion may be raised.
