The Attack on Marsaskala

Various ‘projects’ under consideration will transform Marsaskala for the WORSE. They include secret deals between authorities and private businesses, illegal sub-committees, major traffic diversions to benefit the few, and a ‘design competition’ without consulting residents. (For enlarged image of map see here)

The latest bombshell is the proposal for a yacht marina. This will transform Marsaskala Bay irreversibly, taking away the only large open space left in our locality. Many have expressed their anger and dismay. The Marsaskala Local Council has unanimously voted against this proposal, save one abstention.

As concerned residents, we:

  • Demand that ALL of us have a say in the future of our community
  • Insist that the public good is more important than private interests
  • Want to retain and enjoy the quality of life that Marsaskala still offers
  • Encourage all residents of Marsaskala to build our future. Together.

Let us stand together. We are asking you to join us. Send us an email on residentiskalin@gmail.com with your name and address, so that we can keep you informed about our actions.

We will be sending the following petition to cabinet:

“As a Marsaskala resident, I oppose any form of yacht marina in our locality and demand that residents are consulted about plans and projects affecting our lives. I also ask for the immediate withdrawal of the Malta Tourism Authority design contest for Marsaskala, which would impose plans on our locality without the residents’ participation”.

If you would like to be added as signatory, send us your ID and indicate whether you are a resident or not of Marsaskala. We have a voice. We demand that it be heard.
